50 cents once you break it out of the glass/plastic :)
It is worth about $15 I believe.
A 1971 Kennedy half dollar is worth anywhere from $45 to $280 dollars. The Kennedy half dollar began circulation in 1964.
In some cases, a double die adds to the value of a coin but in other cases it does not. Whether or not the value increases by the presence of a double die is determined simply by the market demand for them. For this Kennedy half I find the value in uncirculated condition to be about $18.
A coin such as this would need to be seen. I suggest you take it to a coin shop and have it appraised.
It is a novelty item known as a magicians coin. It is made by damaging genuine coins. They can be 7 to 8$ at a novelty shop or 2 to 3 on ebay
If it has a double eagle on the back around 8 dollars depending on the price per ounce of silver. JFK is on the half dollar, not the dollar. You did look at the back of the coin where the denomination appears, I assume - ?? Kennedy halves dated 1964 are 90% silver and are worth about $6, more or less depending on the spot price of silver. 1965-1969 are 40% silver and are worth $2.50 or so. 1971-present are copper-nickel and are worth only 50 cents.
That particular series of the Kennedy Half Dollar was stamped 1776 – 1976 to commemorate the Bi-Centennial anniversary celebrating 200 years of freedom.Bicentennial quarters and dollars also have double dates. These coins were issued in both 1975 and 1976, but all carry the 1776-1976 dates. The only coins to carry a 1975 date were cents, nickels, and dimes.
So many of the dual dated half dollars were made that only proof and special uncirculated coins sold from the mint have more than face value.
A "Double Eagle" coin is any US $20.00 gold coin, no other coin. Ten dollar gold coins are Eagles, Five dollar are Half Eagles and Two and a half dollar are Quarter Eagles.
Please take another look. Are you thinking of 1776-1976?If so you have a Bicentennial half dollar. However, assuming it came from circulation it's still only worth 50 cents because (a) it's copper-nickel, not silver and (b) hundreds of millions were made.
get a job
JFK wasn't on the half dollar until 1964. If you have a double-headed coin with two different dates, it means someone cut up two coins and fastened them back together to make a trick coin.
A Double Eagle is a $20.00 gold coin not a half dollar. Please look at the coin again and post a new question
