Depends on what you're doing- Whatever it is, slower, more strenuous reps (i.e. lifting heavier weights or slower pull-ups) are better for your heart and getting buff.
Generally a good workout weight is the weight at which you can do at least 8 reps but no more than 12 reps. If you are able to do more reps, try going heavier. If you are training for strength, use fewer than 8 reps but go heavier on the weight.
I was always taught that low weight with high reps is for weight loss and toning, whereas high weight and low reps is for strength training and bulking up.
It depends on your fitness level, but only a few reps are good for beginners.

The Reps
To lose weight you want to do endurance training. Lots of jogging and crunches. If you would like to use weights use an amount that you can do 20-30 reps with.
Insurance sales reps earn a smaller amount in salary, but a lot of their compensation is based on how much insurance they actually sell. So, how much you make really depends on how good a saleman you are. Working full time, you can earn anywhere between $20k and $80k.
Pharmaceutical reps make pretty good money. I have a friend who he and his wife are both reps and to my understanding the average salary for a rep is about $90,000.
Lighter weights, but more sets. Reps should be at a good pace.
Best to start out with a weight you can lift for 10-12 reps. As you progress you can lower the reps to what feels most comfortable. Everyone is different, and some can start heavier, but 10-12 reps is a good place to start.
