Trust me on this one... you want to use ONLY Dex-Cool approved coolant in that vehicle, especially if you have the Quad Four... the water pump is a bit on the sensitive side, and if you try using green coolant, it will cause the water pump to go out. If you have the Quad Four, and you blow a head gasket, it's going to cost more to repair than you're willing to spend on a vehicle that age, rest assured. It happened back in 02 with a 97 Grand Am I used to own, and it was somewhere around $1200 to have it repaired.
you can only use DEX-cool
dex-cool antifreeze is what came from the factory.
Dex-Cool
There is not one. You just have to loosen the bottom radiator hose and open the fill cap on the antifreeze reservoir when the vehicle is cool.
sounds like you have water in your oil/blown head gasket did you ever add regular antifreeze instead if DEX-COOL if you did it can turn your critical gaskets to jelly
Dex-cool is recommended to be changed every 5 years.
gm dex cool
DEX-cool is a coolant made specifically for Pontiac Grand Ams. It has certain amounts of lubricant and detergents made just for this engine.
17 qts. = 2.25 gals. Do not use Dex Cool type antifreeze. Use HOAT or a compatible substitute.
GM (who builds Pontiac cars) usually puts the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. It's tough to get to there, but it stays cool.
No you can't. Dex Cool antifreeze which is Orange. And regular antifreeze will not mix.
water temp sensor wire grounding out could cause this problem.
