For the 89 models: The map sensor is located on the top back of the motor. If you can find the tranny dipstick tube, and go directly left from there, about 1 foot, you will see a small rectangular box with a green connector, and 1 vacume line coming off the bottom of it. This is your MAP sensor. It will be held onto the black bar with a slideing clip.
For the 87 models: The map sensor is located on the firewall, behind the passenger side strut tower. It will be a small black box with a green connector, and 1 vacume line coming off it. It will be held onto the firewall with 2 small screws.
The MAP sensor or Manifold Apsolute Pressure reads the vacume on the intake system to help the computer judge if it needs to have other sensors operating diferently to help the engine run smoother, or to help prevent a stall.
