DNA is used as a blue print for building proteins. So imagine that you have an error on your blueprint for building a sky scraper. This will result in your skyscraper having an error.
The molecular basis of this is that DNA is transcribed to mrna and translated to proteins. Proteins are made of amino acids and one amino acid takes three nucleotides called a codon to make. So if you have an error on a nucleotide on your dna sequence. The protein that it codes for will have a different amino acid in that spot. This is how dna results in protein error. An example of this sickle cell anemia. The hemoglobin protein is changed in shape from just changing one amino acid to another. This is resulted from just one error called a point mutation in the dna sequence.
Mutations can be considered as errors in the DNA code because when the DNA code becomes scrambled then it causes mutations. Mutations are also caused by more or less chromosomes then needed.

The Code 'alluded to' above is called - and is also known as - The Genetic Code.
The genetic code for protein synthesis is formed from Dna.

A mistake made during copying of genetic information is called a
Copying the genetic code is called DNA replication. It relates to DNA in that DNA carries the genetic code.
DNA
A mutation.
Mutated DNA can have an effect on future offspring because DNA is the coding of life a mistake can cause genetic diseases or even death. The genetic code is half paternal and half maternal so if there is any genetic mistake in their DNA can then get passed on through the generations.
All organisms have a genetic code made of these three nucleotide sequences called codons.

DNA is the genetic code
The nuclear components containing the genetic code controlling cellular processes are the chromosomes. They carry genetic information in the form of genes.
