I have this same problem with my 95 Ford Taurus. The signal lights and hazard lights just quite working. The fuses were fine but I couldn't find the flasher. On looking up this problem, it seems the it is usually the multifunction switch that needs fixed. Best answer to that I've heard so far is to spray some WD40 generously under the hazard warning light switch behind the steering wheel. Operate the switch on and off about a dozen times, then operate the turn-signal switch left and right about a dozen times. Add some more WD40 and let it sit a few minutes. Try again and it should work. I think the problem with finding the flasher is that it looks like a cube instead of that silver tube you are probably looking for. In the one post I read, the flasher was located under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It was a blue plastic cube that is in a bracket. I know this wasn't exactly the answer you were hoping for but I hoped it helped.

Why does this work ???
Dust and dirt settles into the switch which causes the switch to never be able to close and make contact. The WD cleans the contacts and passes the needed voltage to work the bulbs.
It works BB 6-21-07
THIS WORKS!!! YOU SAVED MY REAR WITH THIS QUICK EASY FIX!!! 7-8-08
Wow! This worked for me as well! My hazard lights haven't worked in my 1998 Taurus for quite some time. The signal lights just quit working the other day. I sprayed the WD-40 down around the hazard switch and the first time I pushed the switch down the hazards started flashing! I cycled the switch several times and then the signal lights as well and now everything works as advertised. I never did find the flasher box but I did see the blue cube under the panel that is held in with a small screw or bolt. I just never had to pull it out since the above method worked for me. 9-3-2008

The same problem here too. No flashers or turn signals. Replaced fuses and flasher, but still nothing. I was told I should replace turn signal arm next. I just didn't believe that I needed to do that, so I decided to search online to see if anyone else had the same problem. When I found this post I tried it and the next thing I knew I was shouting "IT WORKED". I was so amazed and happy, I told my husband ( who was out of town on business), my kids, my in-laws and anyone else who would listen. Thank you so much for posting this. I hope this will help others before they spend a fortune on fixes that won't help. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! 10/21/09

Another success using WD40, 97 Sable, hazard and turn signal quit at the same time, in winter, very cold, hazard button felt sticky. removed the steering column cover, 3 screws from the under side of the two piece cover. Sprayed into gaps around turn signal arm pivot and around hazard button. Cycles lever and button while spraying liberally, presto, fixed. Priceless!

98 Mercury Sable/taurus turn signal and hazard lights not flashing fix--remove the top plastic cover over the steering shaft (3 screws) then apply a few drops of oil around the hazard light switch. Turn the switch on and off a few times. Now they work!
If your turn signal flashers stopped working, play with the emergency flasher button on top of the steering column. Our 97 Sable turn signals quit once and luckily I pushed the emergency flasher button in and out many times and the signals have worked ever since. But the emergency flashers don't work, but I can live with that.

Depends on where it is cracked. If it is a small crack, J.B. Weld, found at any hardware store, can be used as a quick and temparary fix. Otherwise it would be better to get a new block altogether.
20 to 40 minutes depending how quick the mechanic is.And for the backyard mechanic or novice just getting started with doing their own repairs, this one could take 30 minutes to an hour or so.See "Related Questions" below for more about Taurus/Sable thermostats and other such stuff.
