According to Wikipedia, a sickle blade is a hand-held curved blade farmers used to use to harvest crops before any modern machinery was available. I looked on Wikipedia and if you want to see a picture of it, just type in "sickle." The sickle was also depicted on the flag of the USSR along with a hammer. Hope that helps.
