I use regular dairy whipping cream in my refrigerated cheesecake recipe. Be sure to use the same amount as in a can of Milnot (12 oz) not the full carton of cream. The taste is slightly different, but not much, and it works. I have tried substituting other condensed milk and it does not work for this recipe.

I have done research on Milnot and can find no substitute. It is evaporated milk with the dairy removed and oil infused, thus making it better for whipping and more moist. I have read there is not a huge difference, if any at all when substituting evaporated milk for Milnot.

Thank you. I am going to try evaporated milk. Here's hoping.

Milnot is now owned by Smuckers - I emailed through the Milnot website and received this reply:

This letter is in reference to your recent contact with Milnot. We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us and most certainly enjoy hearing from consumers who enjoy our products.

Regarding your email, we don't recommend substituting another evaporated milk in place of Milnot. Milnot whips easily and evaporated milk does not.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. If you should have further questions or need additional information, please visit our website at www.milnot.com

MILNOT DOES NOT WHIP ANYMORE. They changed the formula to remove trans fats and it IS. NOT. THE. SAME. evaporated milk whips significantly better! I thought I was losing my mind for the past 4 years I've been trying to make my childhood fave cheesecake with Milnot as my dad always did but it just won't freaking whip like it used to, and then I found out why. Evaporated milk gives it a bit different taste, but texture is spot on so.. its a compromise
