A tenon (also called a back saw or Jack saw) is a rigid back cutting saw used for cutting furniture joinery: tenon joints, housing dados, sliding dovetails, even box and flat finger joints. Tenon saws come in two basic varieties: rip for cutting with the grain, and crosscut for cutting across the grain.
Tenon saws are used to cut pieces of wood t the right length. They are also used to saw straight lines when cutting joints.
The tenon saw is a short saw with fine teeth and a stiffener at the top of the blade .It's purpose is to make small very accurate cuts ,as in cutting tenons in a mortice and tenon joint.
A tenon saw is typically used for weaker and thinner woods. The saw is not sturdy enough to cut through more hardy woods, so is used to cut wood such as bolser wood.
For cutting short very accurate straight joints.

To use a tendon saw first grip the saw handle with your hand and align the blade with the cut line. Score the wood by making a single cut and use that to continue cutting forward.
