It is an ice warning feature. It warns you when you are operating the vehicle below 37 degrees.

Yellow triangle is the traction control light, It comes on( flashes) if you get wheelspin,like on an M# in the rain;). It will stay on if you turn DSC off, or if you have a wheel speed sensor problem(asb light would also be on)
The BMW 518 central locking relay switch is located beneath the dashboard. The central locking relay switch will be on the drivers side of the dashboard.
I get that red triangle with the exclamation whenever I lose traction on the road...i guess its letting you know to drive slower or just be aware that you're losing traction....i also had that light come on for a few hrs when i my friends battery died and i gave her a boost.

There are a variety of warning lights on the dashboard of a 1998 BMW 528i. The light with an exclamation point is the drive off assistant light and also can indicate a problem with the traction control.
