Saginaw-Muncie 465, used in GM light duty trucks until 1987. Four speed manual transmission, direct drive. Very solid, reliable transmission.
4 quarts of 80w-90 gear oil.
80w-90 gear oil will work best for this transmission.
Can i get the diagram for the wire harness for a 2001 Silverado diesel 6.6 truck?
If your going to be yanking and pulling big or heavy loads, The stright stick Trans. would be better.
yes but you will need the pedals and all of the clutch linkage unbolted off the booster. you can simply not use the collum shifter. you will have to rewire the backup lights and the clutch safety switch. you will also need a pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft. the sm465 will be a simpler swap due to availability of parts.
nope the only standard trasmissioin for an 1980 Chevy 4x4 is the sm465 bo-low 4 speed
If it's a manual transmission, you'll be talking about putting an SM465 to replace an NV3500 or NV4500... I'd be doing the opposite swap, personally, as the SM465 is a direct drive transmission with no overdrive gear. It can be done.. you'd just have to use the NV bell housing, and you might have to replace driveshafts with ones fitted for the new setup.More the same with the automatic transmission... there's no reason to replace an overdrive 700R4 with a direct drive TH350.
The transmission fluid needed for the 1989 Chevrolet K1500 with a manual transmission is Synthetic Synchromesh transmission fluid (5W-30) (MTFQT). If the transmission you have is the MG5 5-speed, the capacity is 4.2 pints. If the transmission is the SM465/M20, the capacity is 8.5 pints.
Trying to remember the last one I had... fill plug should be on the left (driver's) side, about halfway up the case. The drain plug is on the very bottom of the pan.
There are 4 different options for the type of transmission that came in a 1988 K5 Blazer. They are the 4 speed SM465 manual, the 3 speed TH350 automatic, the 3 speed TH400 automatic and the 4 speed 700R4 automatic.
If its an automatic truck it would have been the C6 auto with a divorced 205 tcase if a standard truck it would have been a sm465 4 speed w divorced 205
If, as you state, the vehicle is a 5 speed, then I am not sure what you might have. If I recall, the manual tranny was a SM465 4 spd and the auto was a 700 R4. if the truck has over drive and is an auto it is a 700r4 if it doesn't and is auto it is a 350
