The cat chased the mouse. cat = S, chased = V mouse = O
My dog ate his lunch. dog = S, ate = V, lunch = O
In a passive sentence (the opposite of active) the doer of the action is not always given eg:
The mouse was chased. mouse = object, was chased = verb.
or
The mouse was chased by the cat.
By the cat tells us who or what does the action.
