Do electric bikes involve pedaling?

Electric bikes, or e-bikes, are bicycles that have an electric motor that can assist the rider. There are two main types of e-bikes: pedal assist and throttle. Pedal assist e-bikes require the rider to pedal in order to activate the motor, while throttle e-bikes can be powered without pedaling by using a throttle mechanism on the handlebar. However, the level of assistance and the maximum speed of the motor are limited by law in many countries, and pedaling is often necessary for safe and legal operation. Therefore, electric bikes do involve pedaling, but the amount and difficulty of pedaling depend on the type of e-bike and the riderโ€™s preference.
