First of all it is culture not coulture, couture is fashion- lit. cut! The Evil Eye is a popular superstition that arose in the Middle East (possibly during the crusades) and is usually thought to be an Italian, not an Irish cultural angle. In Italian it is called the Malocchio, which is really closer to Sick eye ) a malady is an illness)./ There are photos of the record producer Phil Spector with a grim grin and some have styled this ( Evil Eye). It is a superstition, I do not believe in it. It is possible some people have clairvoyant ( sometimes called Mind-Reading) powers but that is not necessarily wicked. a friend of mine knew an officer in the Army who had unusual piercing blue eyes. He was quite taken to wearing dark glasses when there was no need for them the troops claimed ( Lieutenant X can look right through you!) The officer could not have had an visual problems as he was assigned to the Air Force in Vietnam. Draw your own conclusions.
