It's recommended that pre-teens and teens don't use tampons - the reason is that the younger you are the less likely it is that you have antibodies to TSST-1 toxins responsible for TSS so are at higher risk. Younger women are also often less capable of making an educated decision about high-risk items like tampons and may not be responsible enough to use tampons correctly.

It is best to use pads at first, and if a girl wants to use something internal she should consider safer options like menstrual cups or softcups - these pose no health risks like TSS or infections, they're also more convenient and reliable.

It depends on your comfort level and affordability. Sanitary napkins can get slightly uncomfortable but they are affordable. On the other hand tampons are super comfortable but can be heavy on the pocket.

Sanitary pads are best for younger women.

Tampons pose multiple health risks that are higher in younger women - a pre-teen is likely to lack antibodies to bacterial toxins responsible for Toxic shock syndrome and have more delicate vaginal tissues more prone to damage from tampon use. Younger women may not be mature enough to make the choice or responsible enough to follow precautions to reduce risks like infections and TSS.

If a woman wants to progress to internal menstrual products it's best to use menstrual cups or softcups, these are internal like tampons but safe so no health risks - menstrual cups are also a lot more convenient with fewer precautions, they can be worn for up to 12 hours with any flow and at any time without needing to alternate with pads, plus they don't leak like other options.

Currently this answer has an image of MeLuna menstrual cups, which are a good brand for younger women because the smaller sizes are very small, they are flexible, and come in different colors.

It's best to start with menstrual pads as they're simpler and safer, at least until you know your flow well enough so that if you use tampons you know what absorbency is safe to use. If you want to use internal menstrual products it's a much better idea to consider menstrual cups or softcups as these are far safer than tampons, also being safer it makes them far more convenient than tampons too. If you do use tampons make sure you know precautions to reduce the health risks associated with them.

It totally depends upon person to person, since from girls first period their mothers are the first ones to guide them with the right product and in India Pads are the first option since many years now and till date it is. They both have there own pros and cons

Tampons Pros:

• You can swim in them.

• You don’t have to worry about them being visible

• You can’t feel them when they’re in properly.

Tampons Cons:

• The biggest downside to wearing tampons is the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TTS). It’s a rare but life-threatening complication of certain types of bacterial infections.

Pros of pads:

• They come in lots of options to accommodate changes in your flow and activities.

• They carry almost no risk of TTS.

• You can wear them overnight.

• You don’t need to insert anything.

Cons of pads:

• You can’t swim in them.

• They can shift out of place and wrinkle up in the centre.

• You can’t wear them in thongs or G-strings, if that’s your thing.

Pad has to be organic and safe to use - Anandi pads

i would say pads because it is safer. a pad is just outside and a tampon can get "stuck in there" and then you have to go to the doctore so they can remove it. its easier to use a pad.

Why girls wear pads?

There are only a few options for when a woman is on her period: tampon pads Instead (cup type thing) are the three I know about well. Tampons and cups (Instead) are both inserted into the vagina, and some women don't like doing that, so they rely upon pads. Also, when females are virgins they are smaller/tighter in that area and it can be uncomfortable to use a cup/tampon. Also, when the period is not as heavy of a flow then a pad is the best option. If a woman is too 'dry' and uses a tampon she can get 'toxic shock syndrome'. The cup is safe when the flow is low, but a pad is generally easier than a cup/tampon at the beginning and end of the period. Of course this might have been an even more basic question... women wear pads because they have what we call a 'period' which is a monthly 'menstrual cycle' where she bleeds from her vagina so as to renew the lining of her uterus.

Is it safer to use a tampon or a pad during your period?

It's about your personal preference. Pads are comfier and don't hurt in my opinion.

I have my period and i want to switch from pads to tampons I have some and don't what to ask my mom how to use them How should i use a tampon without an applicator?

If you don't know how to use tampons it's best that you don't - learn more about tampon use, tampon risks, and the precautions you need to follow to reduce your risks. You also don't go from pads to tampons, when you use tampons you still have to use pads: before your period, on light days, overnight while sleeping, if you have a vaginal infections, and it's best to alternate with pads. Consider safer options like menstrual cups or softcups, but if still determined to use tampons then just talk to your mom and she'll help you learn more - it's your responsibility to learn correct tampon use.

Can you see the blood from your period when you are swimming in the sea?

no, but you should be wearing a tampon. They take a little to get used to but they are soooo much better than pads

Can a cross dresser male wear a female tampon?

No, it's not really the best idea. Obviously if a person is male they don't have a vagina in which to insert a tampon, although they could insert the tampon anally as there is no lubrication there would be high risk of anal tissue damage - uncomfortable, and posing risk of both infection and toxic shock syndrome. Besides, why us a tampon if you can't use a tampon as intended? If you want to experience menstrual products then buy some - tampons, pads, liners, menstrual cups, softcups and imagine using them, it's not quite the same as actually using these items but then neither is inserting a tampon into your anus. You can of course use pads or liners, some nice pretty pink cloth pads from the likes of Lunapads may appeal to you, just wear them in your underwear. Another suggestion would be period panties or period belts - underwear with pads built-in like Lunapanties, underwear with leak-proof lining like Dear Kates, or hybrids like WeMoon Nights.

What do you do if you got your period before you have to remove the ring?

Keep nuvaring in and use tampons or pads. Whatever you rather. But be careful taking out tampon. It shouldn't come out with it but be cautious

If your tampon keeps slipping should you try pads?

A tampon should not be slipping out - if used correctly the tampon should sit above the narroest part of the vaginal canal, both this and vaginal muscle tone will keep the tampon in place - if tampons are slipping out you need to discuss this with your doctor. If tampons dont work for you then you should consider using pads or other similar external options like period underwear, belts or interlabial pads, you may also still be able to use internal options like sponges, soft tampons, softcups or menstrual cups.

What does tampon mean?

well when woman have there periods and they don't like wearing pads they could wear a tampon. Edit-- A tampon is some cotton wadded up used to catch menstruation (period) blood. It can be used instead of a pad or a menstrual cup. I may prefer pads but a different girl may prefer tampons. It is just a product used by women during their menstruation (period).

How many times should a girl change her tampon?

It depends on her individual needs. Tampons need to be changed at least every 4-6 hours, or sooner if the tampon leaks before then - women should also alternate with pads as often as possible, or at very least use pads overnight rather than tampons.

Can you swim on your period?

Yes you can , but you should wear tampon's so your blood won't go every where.

Can you skateboard with your tampon in?

Yes, you can skateboard with a tampon in during your period. You can also skateboard wearing pads, menstrual cups, softcups, or no products at all. You don't need to use a specific menstrual product in order to skateboard on your period, use whatever you want.

How do you change a tampon?

You simply pull the tampon string gently but firmly - or insert clean fingers vaginally to grab the tampon itself in order to remove. Once removed you wrap-up the used tampon and throw in the waste bin, or if you'reusing reusable tampons clean out in the sink. You can then insert a fresh tampon or reinsert the reusable tampon - although it's best to alternate with pads after tampon use.
