The grass clippings provide a great source of nitrogen for the grass. It is best to leave the clippings. It does help retain moisture. The grass clippings can even be used as a mulch for plant beds.

When did the drought force Anasazis to leave their homes?

By the year 1300 AD, the entire northern section of the Colorado Plateau (today's Mogollon Rim area) was mysteriously abandoned by the natives. This ended the Pueblo period of development of the Native Americans and the end of the pure Anasazi culture. It is not known exactly why the Anasazi left their homes but drough is one of the compelling factors. They did not all leave at once. Small groups at a time drifted away from the plateau. There was a severe drought from 1276 to 1299 and attacks by nomadic tribes may have also contributed to the move of the Anasazi. Their migration may have also been caused by developing and changing religious beliefs and climatic changes.

Will dawn take out the brown grass in the lawn?

Not necessarily. It is first important to determine WHY you have brown grass in the first place. There are HUNDREDS of reasons why grass will go brown. From disease, to drought, to insects. If the reason is an insect pest such as white grubs (in cool climate) or mole crickets (in warm climate) then detergent will do nothing to help your lawn. (Oddly enough though, Dawn detergent is used to flush out insects in an effort to diagnose a pest problem!) If you have a disease problem which has killed the crown of the plant, then no amount of water will bring it back to life. However, if the reason for your brown spot is because your soil has gone hydrophobic (ie. it will not TAKE IN water) and therefore the lawn has dried out, a solution of 1 part dawn to 20 parts water will be enough to lower the surface tension of the water and allow it to penetrate the soil and hopefully rehydrate the roots. If you have Kentucky Bluegrass, or some other "Drough Avoiding" species of grasss, it should come back to life within a few days of being rehydrated. However, you should know that if the problem has gotten so bad that the grass has died as a result of the drought stress, you are best to re-seed or re-sod the area and start from scratch!

What is the importance of the temperate grassland biome?

well some people say, oh a grassland is a land covered in grass. well no really. way to point out the obvious. a temperate grassland summed up has fertile soils that are able to support quick cover of grasses. drough, grazing animals, and fires keep grasslands from becoming forests. it is home to a wide variety of plants. the grassland parks are normally very large parks with nothing much to see, just alot of flat land with grass and animals. there are few shrubs and trees that support the organisms/animals that live there. if the temperature dropped the grassland would turn into a desert, anything above would be a tropical biome. it gets 10-30 inches of rain a year. some say wiki. is a website where anyone can write random things about whatever you pick, and yes that's true. but this, nope:) its all real, because im in biology right now(: thankss.
