It is more or less dried blood. It comes from usually cows at slaughter houses and such, as the factory kills on which our animal protein is based. It is used for fertilizer in home gardens and such. It's a good example of getting economic use from even the squeal. (Charles Adam cartoon: pigs being routed into a silk purse factory.) Remember when the Indians* in the New England colonies taught the Pilgrams or someone how to fertilize corn? That's the idea. Then again, if the question was what is "a blood meal" it means what a skin-pearching insect, like a mosqueto, it means your neck, your nose, or something not protected, can get to and feed on. As in mosqueto bite. * Currently called 'native americans.' The tribes with their highly organized political structure had names. Never forget, Google is your friend

When your blood sugar is high is it normal to feel cold?

Your blood sugar is usually elevated after a meal--especially one loaded in carbohydrates. Something else also happens after a meal. Your blood flow is shunted to the celiac and mesenteric arteries in the gut to digest the meal. This shunting pulls blood away from the peripheral circulation in the skin to leave you feeling colder. You can combat the sharp blood sugar elevation after a meal by eating more protein and less carbs, but the sensation of coolness after a meal will likely persist. A smaller meal though would lead to a lesser effect.
