It's called "Volatile Memory".

RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read Only Memory).
Backup memory is a separate file that stores a duplicate copy of all of your data. This is so if a system crashes, you can access the files again using the backup memory files.
Volatile memory (RAM) only stores date in the current session, if you were to restart or shutdown your system this would then clear the RAM.
NO...The cache is a smaller, faster memory which stores copies of the data from the most frequently used main memory locations. As long as most memory accesses are cached memory locations, the average latency of memory accesses will be closer to the cache latency than to the latency of main memory. Thus Cache memory is not main memory of computer system.--- form Wiki

RAM, or Random Access Memory, is volatile memory, which means it temporarily stores information while there is power to the system. However, it looses all information when the system is powered down.
Temporary files on the computer are stored is a memory area - either on disk or in RAM called a cache. The CPU stores temporary program data in an on-chip cache. Browsers store temporary information called 'cookies' on the hard drive.
