I have never seen a p8xxx code. Please double check the code number and reask the question.

The trouble codes on an 1988 Dakota are two digit codes. Code 1 does not exist.
it's the code for bad o2 sensor. i think its the downstream one. take it to autozone and have them check it for free. then they can tell you which o2 is bad. change it and reset the code. good luck.
