Best Answer

The six nutrients are proteins, water, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Proteins, carbohydrates, and fats provide energy. Proteins form important parts of the body's main structural components and have a major role in building and repair. Carbohydrates are the body's preferred source of energy. Fats(lipids), in addition to providing the most concentrated form of energy, play a role in the storage and transportation of fat soluble vitamins. Minerals and vitamins regulate body functions.

Carbohydrates -

A carbohydrate ( /kɑrbɵˈhaɪdreɪt/) is an organic compound which consists of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, with a hydrogen: oxygen atom ratio of 2:1 (as in water). They are the main sources of energy for our body. Carbohydrates may be classified as fibres, starch, or sugars. Sugars are sweet and soluble in water. For example, in banana, sugarcane, sweet potato etc. Starch is insoluble in water and is present in wheat, rice, bread etc. Fibres are present in vegetables and fruits and they cannot be digested by our body and help in the passage of the food and faeces. Carbohydrates constitute large part of foods such as rice, noodles, bread, and other grain-based products.

Fats -

Fats are the compound of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. But the have oxygen much less as compared to carbohydrates. It provides twice the energy as that of carbohydrates. Fat is the most concentrated kind of energy that a human can use. It has 9 kilocalories in one gram. The other two types of energy that humans can use are carbohydrates and proteins. Those each have 4 kilocalories in one gram.It is important for the human body because it gives much energy and helps the body use the vitamins in the food. It is also good for the skin and hair. The human body uses the fat to make the body bigger. Humans eat healthy things like vegetables to nullify (stop) or reverse the effects of fat.Fats can be solid (firm) or fluid at room temperature. For example, cooking oil is a type of fluid fat. Butter is a solid fat. Some fats come from animals, others come from plants. Fat from plants is called vegetable fat. Examples of vegetable fats are margarine and vegetable oil. Examples of animal fats are butter, cream and lard.

The different types of fats are saturated, unsaturated and trans fats. Fat is present in foodstuffs like butter, ghee, milk etc.

Proteins -

Proteins are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen & nitrogen. Proteins are large molecules built from small units known as amino acids. These small pieces are stuck together with peptide bonds. They do different things depending on their shape. They can be found in meat or muscle. They are used for growth and repair, as well as for strengthening the bones. They help to make tissue and cells. They can be found inanimals, plants, fungi, bacteria, and also in the human body. For example, musclescontain a lot of proteins. Body builders will eat foods with a lot of protein because exercise breaks down the muscles, allowing new protein to be used to rebuild them larger and stronger. Proteins form an important part in foods like milk, eggs, meat, fish, beans, andnuts. There are four things that determine what a protein will do. The first is the order of the amino acids. There are 20 amino acids, and they are all a bit different. The second is the little twists in the chain. The third is how the entire thing is folded up. The fourth is whether it's working with other proteins.

Vitamins-

A vitamin is a chemical compound that is needed for the human body to work correctly. They include Vitamin A, many B vitamins (like B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12),Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K. For example, citrus fruits such asoranges and lemons contain vitamin C.

Many vitamins can not be made by the body itself. The body needs to get them from other places, usually through food. A short term lack of a certain vitamin is usually not a problem, as the body is able to store vitamins for a short time. Not having a certain vitamin for a longer period of time can lead to different diseases, depending on the lacking vitamin. Probably the best-known of these diseases is scurvy, which results from not having enough Vitamin C.A vitamin is a chemical compound that is needed for the human body to work correctly.
