Lactose intolerance. Its not really an allergy but an inability to digest lactose (the main sugar in milk), the undigested lactose is consumed by bacteria in the gut resulting in gas and other unpleasant effects.

However one may have actual Allergies to ingredients in some ice cream flavors.

In actual allergies the immune system attacks a protein or complex carbohydrate in the substance as if it was a disease causing organism. Side effects of this unnecessary and inappropriate immune reaction result in the symptoms of the allergy.

If you have an adverse reaction to rum raisin ice cream, the most likely explanation is not an allergy, but lactose intolerance, which is an inability to digest lactose, due to a deficiency of lactase secretion. If, however, you do have an actual allergy to rum raisin ice cream, you would have to investigate further, because there are a many different ingredients to this dish, and chances are you are only allergic to one of them. You would need to investigate what your reaction is to vanilla ice cream, and to raisins, and to rum (and there could be other significant ingredients as well; it may well be just a preservative that you are reacting to, rather than any of the actual foods).
