Fucoidan is a type of complex carbohydrate (sulphated polysaccharide). Fucoidan is obtained from Brown Seaweed. Brown Seaweed contains Fucoxanthin which is a pigment that gives the seaweed its brown color. Fucoxanthin helps the seaweed to convert sunlight energy into chemical energy. Fucoxanthin is being studied for the purposes of weight loss and cancer fighting ability. Effects on Immune System and Blood System In some research cases, Fucoidan has demonstrated anticancer, anti-blood clotting, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

What is seaweed salad?

AnswerIt provides protein to all the organisms.Seaweed provides us with loads of nutrition. Different seaweeds provide different amounts of vitamins and minerals. Here are just a few of them:iodine, calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, sodium, chromium, protein (as mentioned above), mannitol, phosphorous, alginate, fucoidan, laminarin, carotene, germanium, phytohormones, vitamins, A, C, D, E, K and B complex vitamins.

What kingdom is seaweed in?

Seaweeds belong to three kingdoms: Kingdom Plantae (chlorophyte, or "green" algae seaweeds), Kingdom Plantae (rhodophyte, or "red" algae seaweeds), Kingdom Chromista (phaeophyte, or "brown" algae seaweeds) Kingdom Chromista (xanthophyte, or "yellow-green" algae seaweeds), and Kingdom Bacteria (cyanophyte, or "blue-green" algae seaweeds). Seaweeds that belong to the Kingdom Plantae are plants; the others, strictly speaking, are not. Kombu (kelp), arame (kelp), limu moui (kelp), hijiki, mozuku, and wakame are not plants. Wikipedia places them under Kingdom Chromalveolata because they are classified as "brown" algae seaweeds. However, nori (laver), ogo (limu), and dulse are classified as "red" algae seaweeds and are placed under Kingdom Plantae. Kingdom Protista, which includes the chlorophyll-containing, self-propelling euglenozoa, is a fourth kingdom of algae which contains no species of seaweeds. Thomas Cavalier-Smith defined Kingdom Chromista in 1981 and redefined it as Kingdom Chromalveolata in 2005. However, in 2008, other biologists have proposed splitting Kingdom Chromalveolata into at least two smaller kingdoms and this newer version has gained increasing support. The cancer-preventing marine polysaccharide, fucoidan, and the weight loss causing marine carotenoid, fucoxanthin, are both always plentiful in "brown" algae seaweeds, including kombu, arame, limu moui, hijiki, mozuku, and wakame. "Yellow-green" algae seaweeds, which are never sold commercially, do not contain much fucoidan or fucoxanthin, even though they are still classified as members of Kingdom Chromalveolata together with the "brown" algae seaweeds.

What are the anti inflammatory foods?

Diets rich in vegetables and fruits help prevent unnecessary inflammation.Top anti-inflammatory foods include:Vegetables. Lightly cooked organic dark leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables (kale, collards, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower), carrots, beets, onions, peas, squashes, and washed raw salad greens are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components.Kelp such as kombu contains fucoidan, a type of complex carbohydrate that is anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-oxidative. The high fiber content of kelp also slows fat absorption and promotes weight loss. But whenever possible, get only organic kelps harvested from unpolluted sea. Besides kombu, wakame, arame, and limu moui are also good sources of fucoidan.Fruits. Brightly colored fruits, especially berries, peaches, nectarines, Oranges, pink grapefruit, red grapes, plums, pomegranates, cherries, apples and Pears, provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory flavonoids and carotenoids.Legumes. Legumes are a low-glycemic-index food rich in folate, magnesium, potassium and soluble fiber. Tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy nuts and soy milk provide isoflavones that have antioxidant activity and are protective against cancer.Essential fats. Eat five to seven servings per day of omega-3 fatty acids and healthy fats from foods like nuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, algae, and phytoplankton. Flax seeds are loaded with alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA, an essential omega-3 fatty acid with strong anti-inflammatory effects. ALA is also found in walnuts, soy products, wheat germ, vegetables, fruits, and beans. A second natural fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), is found in evening primrose, borage, black currant, and hemp. Vitamin E protects against oxidation of these fatty acids.Cooked Mushrooms. Cooked mushrooms such as shiitake, enokidake, maitake, and oyster mushrooms contain compounds that help enhance immune function.Spices. Add spices generously to each meal for their anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric, ginger, hot red peppers, ginseng, and garlic are all great choices. Curcumin, the yellow pigment in the curry spice turmeric is far safer and more effective than drugs in reducing inflamation.Tea. White, green, and oolong teas, which provide catechins, antioxidant compounds that reduce inflammation.Dark chocolate. (70 percent cocoa and higher) eaten sparingly, offers antioxidant benefits.

Do lycopene and lutein pills cause weight loss?

Probably yes. Fucoxanthin is the carotenoid [from pills] that is most strongly correlated with weight loss. Another marine carotenoid [from pills], astaxanthin, is also strongly correlated with weight loss but not quite as strongly as fucoxanthin. Lutein and lycopene [from foods] are definitely correlated with weight loss very, very strongly. However, most of that weight reducing tendency derives from the fact that vegetable eaters and fish eaters tend to lose weight while meat eaters, dairy food eaters, processed/refined food eaters, and starchy/sugary food eaters tend to gain weight. In one study, increased bodily levels of lutein were correlated to weight loss but the researchers hypothesized that when the body fat melted away, lutein was released into the blood from the body fat. In my opinion, the other possibility is that all beneficial phytochemicals/antioxidants help to cause weight loss. That's why vegetable eaters lose weight and nut eaters don't gain weight, even though nuts are extremely high in calories. Although the fat in nuts without the beneficial phytonutrients in nuts would cause weight gain, the fat in fish and seafood appears to cause weight loss. See Sources and Related Links for more information. Fucoxanthin causes weight loss by making white fat behave more like brown fat. Bears survive during long hibernations by burning off their brown fat to stay warm. Humans contain mostly only white fat, which can't be burned away as easily as brown fat without exercise. If you would like to lose weight without any side effects, try swallowing fucoxanthin capsules. Unlike the polysaccharide, fucoidan, which prevents and treats cancer, the carotenoid, fucoxanthin, makes white fat burn away like brown fat to keep us warmer without exercise. Astaxanthin, the strongest antioxidant among the carotenoids, causes weight loss too. One of the best ways to lose weight is to eat mostly only fruits and vegetables that contain at least 89% water. Watermelons, which are rich in lycopene, contain 92% water. Tomatoes are also rich in lycopene and other beneficial phytochemicals and contain 94% water. Ruby red grapefruits are also rich in lycopene and contain 91% water. Green tea, white tea, rooibos tea, honeybush tea, olive leaf tea, onion tea, and fenugreek tea are more than 99% water and rich in many beneficial phytochemicals that will cause weight loss. Beef, pork, lamb, eggs, chicken, turkey, many dairy foods, cakes, pastries, sweets, and refined starches are very high in calories, very low in percentage water content, extremely low in fiber, extremely low in antioxidants, and very high in pro-oxidants that cause weight gain such as heme iron, alkanals, alkanels, dietary advanced glycation endproducts, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heterocyclic amines, and nitrosamines. Fat free plain yogurt causes weight loss by introducing good bacteria into our intestines. Fat free milk doesn't cause weight gain because it speeds up intestinal transit time and also feeds the existing good bacteria. Psyllium husk and psyllium husk capsules contain mostly only soluble fiber and cause weight loss by speeding up intestinal transit time, feeding the existing good bacteria, increasing fecal volume, softening hard stools, and introducing antioxidants into our intestines. Many of the most beneficial phytochemicals in plants are contained in both the soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. If you would prefer to risk the side effects of prescription drugs to lose weight, remember that the most expensive one (sibutramine) is the best. DANGER: The quickest way to lose weight is to stop eating completely. Unfortunately, fasting for longer than 2 days will cause permanent damage to our bone density and permanently increase our risk of future bone fractures. To minimize this damage, (1)drink green tea or white tea, (2)swallow a multivitamin pill daily [preferably without iron on most days; preferably with extra vitamin D daily], (3)swallow your favorite antioxidant pills, (4)swallow one 600mg calcium carbonate pill daily, (5)swallow a fish oil softgel daily - or - swallow a high phospholipid krill oil softgel daily, (6)swallow a vitamin K2/MK-7 capsule daily and swallow a soy isoflavone capsule daily and swallow soy protein daily -or- just eat the Japanese fermented soybean food called, "natto," daily, (7)eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, and (8)eat onions -or- drink onion tea. These 8 actions would prevent irreversible damage to our bone health during a prolonged fast.
