*** Caution ***
Never open, service or drain the radiator or cooling system when hot; serious burns can occur from the steam and hot coolant. Also when draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink ant that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantities. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.

How yo take a heater core out of 2002 lincoln navigator with 5.8 engine and can you do it without removing inside dashboard?
You will see 2 heater hoses connected to the firewall. These are the inlet & outlet hoses going to the heater core. Disconnect them and then connect them together with a coupler. This will bypass the heater core.
Have your heater core check out. On my navigator there was a leakage in a tube under the passenger fender. Take it off and check out you tubes.
The entire dash must come out. It is about a 7 hour job if you know what you are doing. If you don't take lots of pictures and put things in labeled bags.
You do not have to remove the dash. You do however have to remove enough of the ductwork to allow access to the heater core. This is almost never an easy job and as I have not replaced one on a Navigator, I cannot tell you exactly what to remove. Just remove what is necessary to get to the core. This is why the Pros charge so much to replace a heater core. Just remember exactly how the parts cam off and how they go back on. Good Luck.

Probably a leaky heater core. Look in the passenger side floor board (maybe driver side as well) and see if the carpet is wet. These are all tell tell signs of a heater core that is leaking.
