Net Neutrality is the concept that everyone's internet traffic should be treated equally by internet providers like Comcast and Verizon, independently from whether the traffic belongs to a huge content provider like Google or a small blogger like you. The Internet providers oppose strongly the idea, because they would like to make extra money for giving preference to some sites over others. Huge content companies support the idea because they are afraid that the Internet providers will charge them extra for using much of currently available bandwidth. The idea is very unlikely to become a law, but so far it is widely respected by the market participants. The main problem with it becoming a law is that such a law would be virtually impossible to regulate. For example, Net Neutralizers thus far have tried to base new regulations on 'End User', and so-called 'Last Mile,' but right now nobody knows how to define the last mile and nobody knows where it ends exactly. The Internet is a very complicated network.
The term net neutrality means all internet information, data, or components should be treated equally and not be discriminated against. Net neutrality is the principle that all users, content, platform, site or application are not different from the traditional communication method.
