Best Answer

Just like pH is the negative log of [H+], pOH is the negative log of the [OH-].

Do you have the concentration of hydrogen? If so you can use the equation Kw = [H+][OH-], where Kw is the constant of water (1 X 10-14), [H+] is the concentration of hydrogen, and [OH] is the concentration of hydroxide. Once you have the concentration of hydroxide figured out, use the equation pOH = -log10[OH-].

You can find pOH if you know the pH of a substance by remembering the pKw = 14 = pOH + pH. Also remember that by definition, the p of something equals the -log(something), in this case -log(concentration of OH- ions).

The quantity pOH is the inverse of pH. The sum of the two always equals exactly 14 in any given liquid. So if the pH is 3, the pOH is 11, for example.

pH + pOH = 14

so for example: if our pH = 5

then our pOH = 14 - 5 = 9

as we know the atomic no of oxygen & hydrogen are 1 & 8 respectively . therefore when the combine they need a more bond hence form a OH molecule

How do you calculate OH- with a ph of 1.12?

pH + pOH = 14. So pOH = 14 - 1.12 = 12.88 pOH = -log[OH-] [OH-] = 1.31 x 10-13 M

What is the H ion concentration in a 4.8x10-2 M KOH solution?

pOH = -log(10)[OH^-] pOH = -log(10) [ 48. x 10^-2] pOH = - (-1.31875...) pOH = 1.31875... pH = 14 - pOH pH = 14 - 1.31875... pH = 12.68124... pH = 12.68

If the pH of a solution is 3, please determine it’s pOH?

The pH and pOH are related to each other through the equation: pH + pOH = 14 If the pH of a solution is 3, we can find the pOH by rearranging the above equation: pOH = 14 - pH = 14 - 3 = 11 Therefore, the pOH of the solution is 11.

How do you find pH and poh of a 0.002614M NaOH solution?

First, since NaOH is a base you have to find the pOH first so you use the equation -> pOH = -log[NaOH] pOH = -log[NaOH] = -log[0.0111] pOH = 1.955 Then you use this equation -> 14 = pH + pOH to find the pH 14 = pH + pOH pH = 14 - pOH = 14 - 1.955 pH = 12.045 and that makes it basic Hope that helped. ^_^
