Bullying and Peer Pressure have a lot in common. Bullies force people to do their bidding or force them to do something they don't want to do. Peer pressure is being influenced by your friends to do something that you don't want to do. In the end both can hurt you, but the only difference is, is that bullying is done by someone you fear, or dislike and peer pressure is used by those you either idolize or trust.

Peer pressure and bullies are not the same.

Peer pressure can be good, and it can be unhealthy. This is a type of influence that a certain group you might be involved in (at any age!) exerts with or without meaning to that will cause a person to act in a way they might not have without this particular group of "peers"

We most often hear about peer pressure in a negative connotation. One of these is during the time of adolescence, when the group of peers a young person is surrounded by (usually their schoolmates) will exhibit poor choices and self-destructive behavior such as smoking, using drugs, and breaking the law in a host of ways.

Bullying is an entirely separate issue. Bullies are people of any age who will try and put direct pressure or abuse into a vulnerable person's life for a specific reason.

The reasoning in the adolescent population usually is that the "bully" feels threatened by the person they are targeting. Their victim is doing something that makes them feel bad, such as those who are excellent students, when the "bully" is barely passing their classes.

The victim could simply be better looking than the "bully", and therefore the bully will go out of their way to make the victim's life miserable.

This is a serious issue- as there have been suicides and attempted suicides repeatedly related to those who are bullied. Those who are bullied at a young age often will have life long self-esteem issues, anxiety, hostility and might even become a bully themselves if the issue is not addressed!

Standing up to a bully is not easy, but is usually worthwhile- as the bully does not expect the victim to ever face them . It is therapeutic- as long as there is no real threat of physical violence.

Bullying at the adult level should involve law enforcement, as this is indicative of a much larger problem- and can include domestic violence and other crimes.

Bullying is the act in which someone uses force in order to get someone to do what the bully wants.

Peer-pressure is pressure exerted on a person by his/her peers to engage in an act, often times these acts are things such as drugs, smoking or drinking illegally.
