It is the amount of medication found in an item, when referring to pharmacy stock solutions. So for instance, if you have a percent strength of 15% this is the same as saying I have 15g of drug in 100ml of a liquid. Now keep in mind there are different types of stocks I am using the most common of weight in volume.

So if I need to find out how many grams are in 50ml of the drug, I can set it up using the ratio portions method.

15g/100ml = X/50ml X= 7.5 grams of drug in 50ml of the fluid.
