The chordata (vertebrates) have established themselves in most of the ecological niches available on the planet, from the deepest sea trenches (though they are in a minority down there compared to mollusks and other phylii) to the air (various birds) to arctic regions - seals, bears and fish)- to arid regions; leopard and springbok come to mind.
