What does that mean? A P0305 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #5. SymptomsSymptoms may include: · the engine may be harder to start · the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate · other symptoms may also be present Causes A code P0305 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: · Faulty spark plug or wire · Faulty coil (pack) · Faulty oxygen sensor(s) · Faulty fuel injector · Burned exhaust valve · Faulty catalytic converter(s) · Running out of fuel · Poor compression · Defective computer Possible Solutions If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

OBD-2 error code on a 2000 infinity i30 is PO305. What is the problem?

There are three of them under the plate where you put the oil in. Because there are no spark plug wires you have to remove the modules in order to find the spark plugs. The other three are toward the back of the engine and not as easy to get to. You will be able to see the modules just becareful when you take the screws out it is easy to drop and loss them. The spark plugs are inside there and they are a pain to get to. In case your not sure the modules are small black squares that have a screw on either side of them.

What could be wrong if new spark plugs were installed in a 1996 Chevy Lumina a few months ago and have been intermittently misfiring with a warm engine ever since?

Did you check the spark gaps on the plugs? This could be causing your problem. Also check that all wires are snug and properly connected. To check the gaps on your plugs just take it to your local parts store and they should be able to help you out, most likely for free. 2 thoughts-assuming the plugs are the correct ones and gapped right and tight and crush rings installed right. How old are the wires? They may have been damaged during the change. The misfire will be detected by the computer. If it is po300 it is from multiple cylinders. If it is a particular cylinder such as the fifth cylinder the code would be po305. See the 5 and fifth cylinder relationship? You didn't state the engine size. BClear. Assuming it is a 3100 motor, they have a fair amount of injector problems that are fixed by a fuel injection cleaning from a professional garage.

Lincoln LS Po305 Diagnostic code?

That is a misfire code. It means cylinder no. 5 (front driver's side cylinder) is misfiring. These cars have chronic issues with the seals on the valve cover leajing at the interface between the valve covers and the cylinder head where the spark plug journals are located. Each plug has its own coil and what happens is the journal fills with oil and shorts the coil. Take the cap off the valve cover and pull the coil for the no. 5 cylinder. If the boot to the coil is moist at all, this is likely your issue. You can keep replacing the coil every once and a while ($50 each) or you could do it right and replace the valve cover gaskets and seals. Do not drive it if the check engine light is flashing, because that means a cylinder is not firing at all and the unburnt fuel will turn your catalytic converters into little infernos, destroying them and creating a fire hazard. Also, don't skimp on the plugs-anythign less than double platinum will cause high enough resistence to send a false misfire code. Note that this could be your issue too, if the boot is dry. Replace the plugs if you're otherwise due, paying attention to the condition of each.
