cells which take up crystal violet stain and retain them because of smal pore size
Bacteria are those that are stained dark blue or violet by Gram Staining.
Capsules may be revealed by methods such as Maneval's method. This method utilizes negative staining, where the background is stained revealing an unstained structure: the bacterial capsule.
Gram staining is highly valuable. It allows us to identify two widely different bacteria. Gram staining can tell you if the bacteria is pathogenic or if a penicillin pill can cure it. It tells us gram-positive bacteria, or gram-negative. Positive being easily combated bacteria and some even helpful, and gram-negative being primarily pathogenic.
Gram staining is used to identify whether a bacterium is gram positive or gram negative. Slides can be dried using filter paper or tissues. The technique is based on the reaction of stain that happens with the membrane of bacteria.
If after staining, a smear reveals both purple(Gram +) and red cells(Gram -). This is generally an indication that the smear contains gram positive cells.

In Gram staining procedure during bacterial staining , iodine forms a complex with crystal violet stain which stains Gram positive bacteria blue to violet .
Staining is done to help determine what the sample is. It makes it visible under a microscope and it gives some information about the structure of the cell. A positive Gram stain means that the cell has a thick peptidoglycan layer.

Gram positive bacteria stain purple due to the chemistry and structure of their petidoglycan cell wall
Differential staining is the procedure that are used to distinguish organism based on their staining properties. Use of gram stain divide bacteria into two classes - gram positive which retain crystal violet stain purple colour, gram negative which lose their crystal violet and give pink colour. By this method we can differentiate two different types of bacteria having different cell wall composition that is the reason gram staining used widely as differential staining

positive stain stick with specimen and gives it's color where as negative dye doesn't stick with the specimen but settle around it's outer boundary and forming a silhouette. that negative stain produce a dark back ground around the cell.
