In the Judaic tradition, the Torah, or first five books of the Hebrew Bible, is in the category of revealed knowledge, as it is believed to have been revealed by God to Moses. Similarly, the Qur'an is also a revealed scripture, which Muslims accept as the Word of God as given to the Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. In Tibetan Buddhism an interesting example is the terma literature, which are teachings hidden by a Buddha (usually the historical Buddha Shakyamuni or the so-called Second Buddha, Padmasambhava, the Indian master who brought Buddhism to Tibet) to be discovered in the future, for the benefit of later generations, by revelation to an advanced practitioner who would receive the text through meditation or vision. A famous example of terma is the Bardo Thodol, The Tibetan Book of the Dead.
