The American Dream is a national ethos of the USA in which democratic ideals are perceived as a promise of prosperity for its people. In the American Dream, citizens of every rank feel that they can achieve a "better, richer, and happier life." The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the second sentence of the Declaration of Independence which states that "all men are created equal" and that they are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The American dream has been greatly criticized because it is very unlikely that such dreams will come true because the modern American wealth structure still perpetuates racial and class inequalities between generations.

Another argument is that if such a significant difference in income, social standard and security can take place then the situation in which that person started off was deeply miserable and unjust.

It also indicates that there is a large gap between rich and poor and very little if no equality considering income and financial situation.

The main criticism is that the free market that the Americans depend on to become rich is the very same that can lead to their demise.

In recent years, the concept of the American Dream as a national ideal has been studied by various organizations. The conclusions of these studies indicate that during the 1990s to the 2000s, an increasing number of people confess to having lost faith in the American Dream.

How can Rosa Parks be criticised?

There are always people who will find fault with other people, no matter what, even Mother Teresa was criticised on several occasions!! We are all human with flaws, but some are close to perfect, these people are few and far in between, so Rosa Parks should be honoured and not criticised.

What is something that arthur miller hoped to show people about the American dream?

Through his story, "Death of a Salesman," Arthur Miller suggests that the American Dream - the belief that one can find happiness and satisfaction through hard work - is mostly unattainable. He further suggests that only those in the right place at the right time will succeed, while everyone else will struggle and never achieve the material and emotional success promised through the American Dream.
