In a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE, the radio battery constant 12v+ wire is pink, the radio accessory switched 12v+ wire is blue, the ground wire is gray, the illumination wire is red/green, and the dimmer wire is red/yellow. For the 6 1/2 inch front speakers, the left front speaker wire (+) is pink, the left front speaker wire (-) is blue, the right front speaker wire (+) is white, the right front speaker wire (-) is black. For the 6 1/2 rear deck speakers, the left rear speaker wire (+) is light green, the left rear speaker wire (-) is purple, the right rear speaker wire (+) is blue, and the right rear speaker wire (-) is pink.

Try checking the fuse.
it is located in the in cab fuse box labeled as mirror.
You can't be serious. If the display light goes out...that means it is out. Buy a new radio if it really bothers you.
if the car is not equiped with a factory amp then it is on the radio head unit itself. if it did most nissan's have it behind one of the rear panels in the trunk.

A person can obtain a radio wiring diagram print out for this car at an auto shop. They can also looking the cars maintenance manual for the diagram.

the top of the "frame" around the radio, fan controls has a cover in the middle which hides a screw, remove the screw and there are two clips about and inch up from the bottom of each side of the "frame", then just remove the four screws holding the radio in and unplug the clip in the rear of the radio, i can't remember if you need to disconnect the fan controls first, but they are all on one plater and they have have four screws holding that plate in as well To change the radio on a 97 Nissan Sentra here is a link that gives step by step details including the wiring and everithing it should work for years 96 to 99 http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Nissan/PDF/647001.pdf if looking for othere cars this is the main page http://www.installdr.com/ Great place color pictures it make it really simple.
