A liberal constructionist is one who argues interpretation of the provision of the Constitution, particularly those granting power to the federal government.
There are two nobility clauses in the Constitution. Article 1 Section 9 forbids the federal government granting titles of nobility. Article 1 Section 10 forbids any state to grant a nobility title.

Antifederalists opposed the ratification of the Constitution, because, as their name suggests, they distrusted a strong federal government such as the one the Constitution would create. Many antifederalists felt that a strong central government, rather than one granting autonomy and power to the states, would lose sight of the people's desires as the British government lost sight of the colonies' desires.

You could say that the constitution is conservative in the aspect that it limits governmenr as opposed to a liberal constitution that does not limit government but instead empowers people.

Overall, it can be said that Lansing wanted a more limited central government, with greater protection for states' rights and individual liberties.
