The Lord treated Abraham as a close friend, once again visiting him by the oaks of Mamre. God assured Abraham that his wife Sarah is about to conceive the promised son next year. Above all, such friendship is evident in the Lord's not hiding from Abraham what He is about to do to Sodom and Gomorrah, giving Abraham the opportunity to intercede for these wicked cities especially for his nephew Lot and his family.
