Most important electrolyte for maintenance of osmotic pressure and volume?

The most abundant positive ion or cation in the extracellular fluid is sodium (Na+). Chloride (Cl-) is the most abundant negative ion or anion.

What is the most abundant anion in extracellular fluid?

Extracellular fluid refers to all body fluid outside of cells. The most abundant anion in the extracellular fluid is chloride (Cl-).

Is calcium the most abundant negative ion in extracellular fluid?

I believe it is Chloride? If you know the answer for sure please post it!! thank you!!

what electrolyte is the most abundant cation in the intracellular fluid?

sodium

True or False The most abundant negative ion in extracellular fluid is calcium?

False. It's Chloride

What is fluid and electrolyte balance and how is it maintained?

water is the major fluid in the human body. It consists of 60% of body weight in men and 55% in women due to the fat composition in the women body. the fluid 60% is present in two types: Extracellular fluid (plasma (blood) and interstitial (space between cells). they compromise of 20% and the rest 40% is in the intracellular fluid (in the cells). Interstitial fluid and blood plasma are similar in their electrolyte make up. Na+ and Cl- being the major electrolytes. In the intracellular fluid, K+ and HPO4- are the major electrolytes. the electrolytes net positive ions and the net negative ions that are present in the extracellular fluid is the same as in the intracellular fluid. The most abundant ions are sodium and chloride in the extracellular fluid and potassium, magnesium and phosphate in the intracellular fluid. Why and how does the ECF differ from the ICF?

The acronym ECF stands for extracellular fluid. Extracellular fluid is the fluid outside of the cell in the human body.

Is plasma intracellular or extracellular?

Chloride is an Anion in Extracellular Fluid

Do a normal person should have positive fluid balance or negative fluid balance?

Total body water is 60% of body weight, Intracellular fluid is 40% of the body weight and extracellular fluid is 20% of the body weight.

What is found in extracellular fluid?

The principal elements in the extracellular fluid are sodium, potassium and calcium.

Is urine from a catheter a intracellular or extracellular fluid?

Extracellular.

Where is the extracellular fluid found in the body?

Extracellular is outside cells and intracellular is inside, so that extracellular fluid would not be inside cells.
