I received a letter from SIGARMS dated May 13, 1997 stating "All Sauer production records were lost in 1945 when the Soviet Army occupied the Sauer factory. For this reason, we are not able to offer any information on your shotfgun..... recommend you have a qualified appraiser examine your shotgun.....or contact the National Rifle Association for a recommendation." That's a much higher number that I;ve seen on a German Daly but their numbers are hard to track as they started over in 1892 I believe. I believe your gun to be towards the last. Its all the other numbers on your fine gun that give a truer answer. All proof marks should be added here as well as any writting on the gun. I'm thinking this gun is out of the number range for a Lindner gun but nothing is for sure in the gun world.
