The area of the US is 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km2).

The area of China can't be clearly calculated. Some of China's borders are in dispute, for example with India, Pakistan and Japan. China also claims Taiwan as part of China but Taiwan remains independent.

Most importantly, Tibet remains occupied by China after being invaded in the 1952. The Chinese government considers Tibet as part of China but most people in the world as well as Tibetans themselves consider it a separate country.

There are other parts of China, for example Chinese Turkestan, where significant proportions of the population would prefer that they were not part of China.

While China remains an ethnically diverse but communist totalitarian state where people do not have freedom to express whether or not they consider themselves to be part of China, the area of China cannot be honestly defined.
