Regular 12 volt with at least 550 CCA (cold cranking amps). If you live in a cold weather climate you might want to go with a higher CCA for those cold winter starts. You CAN'T go too big. You can look up the size at any auto parts store. Batteries come in several numbers like Type 1, Type 40, etc. What I do is look at the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) rating and then measure the battery, L W H and draw a picture of where the terminals are and the type of terminal. Some batteries have both posts and side terminals, but most have one or the other. As long as the battery fits in the battery tray and the cables are in the right place, it will be fine. The battery can not hurt your car (unless you hook up the cables backwards of course). I usually buy my batteries at Costco as they have the best prices. I bought the battery for my 92 Caprice for about $60 and it had 850CCA. Other places to buy batteries cheap is Sam's Club, BJ's, and Wal-Mart. One word of caution, be VERY sure you understand which is the positive and which is the negative terminal. You can do damage if you even touch them backwards since the new electronics are very sensitive. VBdenny
