What is the best car wax?

If you try to simply use a spray detailer to protect your paint, you may end wishing you had used a wax.

Carnauba waxes will do your paint good over time. The clearcoat on your car these days is indeed a UV protectant for the base coat underneath it, and keeps it from fading. If you simply put a layer of spray detailer on it, it's not going to protect it at all, and eventually the clearcoat will fail under the heat and weather, and will come off or "fade" in time.

Carnauba based waxes add an extra layer of protection to take the brunt of the sun damage that is attempting to ruin your paint. Carnaubas come from the carnauba plant's leaves, and the best are #1 white, and #1 yellow carnauba. Look for a wax that has more than 25% by volume #1 white or #1 yellow carnauba as an ingrediant. (If it says 100% carnauba, that means that it has real carnauba wax, not that its purely just carnauba wax. If that was the case, it would be a solid brick.)

There are also synthetic polymer sealants that act the same as carnauba wax. They go on just the same, require a certain drying time and curing time, give an amazing shine, and last much longer than carnauba waxes. Look for polymer waxes by reading the labels to see if it contains any carnauba or if its purely synthetic. You have two choices. Carnauba will give more "depth" to the paint, and synthetics will still provide an amazing gloss and shine, but will last much longer.

Collinite 845, 915 are the best waxes. They protect upto 1 year.
