Use the proper fit oil filter from fram found at your local auto parts store.
Oil sending unit is under intake manifold, just behind the oil filter on the passenger side (difficult to see-use flashlight). Best option to change : Get everything to do an oil change, removal of the filter makes easier access.
Factory says----5W30 in the winter time. Be sure to use A/C delco oil filter.
The volume of oil running through the filter while the engine is running. The threads might be the same on the filters but the diameter will most likely not be. This will not create a proper seal if the inapropriate filter is used causing oil leakage and engine ceasing. Please do not try to use a different oil filter than what is recommended by the oil filter manufacturer for the specific vehicle.
5w30 major brand. I personally use Pennzoil, and have for 25 years with no internal engine problems. Just as important is the oil filter and air filter. Replace the air filter every 30,000 miles. Replace the oil filter at every oil change every 5,000 miles. I recommend you use an AC/Delco filter. Top rated filter that will provide excellent protection and flow. If you cannot find an AC/Delco use a Purolator or Wix filter.
use an oil filter remover, i find the strap type that uses a ratchet works best, the chain type distroys the filter and you get oil everywhere
your oil filter on a ford escort should be positioned on the very back of the block under you altenator. the best and easiest way to get it is to jack it up and get under the car and use an oil filter wrench until loose enough to get it finger tight. BE CAREFUL, DO NOT GET UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE UNLESS IT IS PROPERLY HELD WITH A JACK STAND.
