Well, you're going to want it in a room that is safe and secure. Cleanliness is good too. A big problem is getting too much dust in the components. I'd set your tower under a desk with the monitor on the desk (this obviously wouldn't apply to laptops). Make sure your cords are secured and not out in the open where they can be tripped on or ripped up by a pet. Also, networking plays a big part in this. If you're home network is wireless, you're going to want any nonmobile computers to be in places where there can be as little interference as possible from other wireless devices. Many routers operate on similar frequencies to that of microwaves and wireless phones. If your desktop is going to be using wireless, locate it somewhere near the router or where there are clear lines of wireless communication. If you have more than one desktop, put your router at one of those desktops.
