For male pattern baldness, finasteride 1mg daily has been shown to be effective in most. Can get from India as FINCAR. (comes in 5mg tablets, and cut into quarters). This is exactly the same as the more expensive brands, and will do the same job. The 5mg tablets are used for prostate enlargement. Alternatively, can buy proscar which is not as cheap, but still comes in 5mg tablets, and still not as expensive as buying tablets in 1mg. Ignore Propaganda from drug companies on internet about side effects of FINCAR. It is the same drug (finasteride), just cheaper due to different patent laws in India. Also a shampoo with ketoconazole can help. I think the brand is Nizoral. There is research that shows it is effective, but it isn't marketed for this (probably because it is not under patent, and they would easily be undercut by generic suppliers). The shampoo that is marketed I think (?) is minoxil (?), and is meant to be effective. Laser treatments, herbal treatments, etc, do NOT have any evidence. In summary, get FINCAR from India, cut tablets into quarters and take daily. Can also use shampoo with ketoconazole in it if you want. (this is cheapest and STILL effective). If you have patches of baldness, it may be due to your immune system and your doctor can inject some cortico-steroid which usually helps. (this is different to normally "male" baldness).
