It's honestly a better idea to just give in and go buy a new set of spark plug wires... You will tear them up and cause a dead short if you try and pull the caps off of the wires... most of them are glued on, and they can't take much pressure if you pull on them... sorry. Just buy new ones, you'll waste less time that way, and they are not really that expensive.
Get a "Spark Plug Boot Removal Tool", available at any reputable Auto Parts Store.....

To change the spark plugs on a Vauxhall Zafira open the hood of the vehicle. The spark plugs will be located on the engine. It is best to used a spark plug removed to unscrew the plugs. They will be connected to a cable. Remove the cable. Replace the plugs with new ones and reattach the cable.

Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plug( best to do 1 at a time, so not to mix the wires). Using a 5/8 socket you can remove/install the spark plugs. Gap should be .035" and torque is 24ft-lbs.
I find it best to lift and support the front end and remove the front tires, then using a spark plug socket and a long extension go thru the wheel well opening to access the spark plugs.
remove the plastic or metal cover that is in the center of the valve cover. Then remove the coils one at a time (Its best to do them one at a time to keep track of where they came from) and DO NOT disconnect the wires going to the coils. In many automobile engine configurations, a spark plug socket is the only way you will ever get at the plug. But even in situations whee the hex on the plug is easily accessible (lawnmower, for example) a spark plug socket is still the best way to remove it without damage to the plug.
If the standard socket does not fit, ( 5/8 ) then try and find another size to fit, even metric. This is the best to do, other wise, you will have to remove the head.
Disconnect the battery then remove or loosen the top center bolt going towards the fuel tank. I remove the relay from its harness ad best as possible, remove the battery strap (rubber). Then carefully and almost forcefully "finagel" it out of it box. Hope that helps.
