If it is a V6 the starter is at the bottom front of the engine. The front of the car has to be raised to access it from underneath. This is best done when the engine is cool.
If you mean that you changed oil , then RAN THE ENGINE with the old oil filter installed , then changed the oil filter , you just mixed the dirty oil in the old engine oil filter with the new oil that was just put in . So , not the best thing to do

The starter is positioned at the rear bottom of engine but almost in the dead center, close to the firewall and slightly to the right of driver's side front tire. It is difficult to see from above. The best way to find it is to locate the oil filter. The starter is positioned directly beside it. Slide under the car and find the oil filter. Place your hand on the oil filter and slide it to left -- the next object you touch is the starter. Look at the rear bottom of the engine driver's side

It unscrews counter clock wise. <---By far the best answer ever! But to add to it. The filter is probably the EASIEST to reach filter on any car I have ever owned. It's at the very bottom of the engine where you can put your hand or any filter removal tool on it and get it off easily. BE CAUTIOUS HOWEVER TO REMOVE THE FILTER CAREFULLY AS THERE WILL BE OIL (possibly HOT) COMING OUT WHEN YOU unscrew it. (The filter is nearly vertical.)
My 86 2.5 only holds 3 quarts with a filter. The filter is mounted upside down so to prevent the oil from running all over the engine I puncture the bottom of the filter so the oil drains to the pan and out. The best way to be certain is to check the manual. You could fill one quart less than stated, run the engine enough to fill the new filter (~60 seconds) then stop and check the level on the dipstick. Add as needed.
