• put on moisturizer every thirty minutes

until redness has reduced

Following are some effective methods to treat sunburn:

DO bathe but and using a wet washcloth, place it gently on your sunburn. You may also soak yourself in a tub to keep the burning feeling away.

DON'T use the shower. The water pressure from a shower can irritate the skin and increase your pain, instead of giving you relief.

DO use lukewarm or cool water. These are more gentle on the skin. Likewise, you might want to apply cold compress on your sunburn. This is fine as long as you wrap the ice with a cloth to prevent damaging your skin.

DON'T use ice cold water. This is a big no-no as ice cold water can damage your skin's nerves. Likewise, ice can stick to your skin and might cause even more pain.

DO wear loose clothing to minimize contact of rough clothing material on skin. If you have clothes made from silk material, use them instead as silk are soft to the skin and won't stick to your wounds easily.

DON'T wear tight clothing as skin contact would simply increase your pain and swelling.
