If you mean the coolant overflow reservoir, it may be oil. You may also see foam on oil fill cap which would be coolant in oil. Have found out that GM used plastic gaskets for the intake manifolds on 3.1L V6 engines and they have a history of going bad. Get it checked if you have a trustworthy mechanic. I let mine go and ended up having the engine bearings go bad.
go to the autoparts store and buy a flush kit then just follow the directions on it
Remove the tank Take it to one of those pressure car washes Pressure wash it out Take home Rinse well Reinstall Add correct coolant mixture to the tank. Consider cleaning the cooling system out with a cleaner and replacing the radiator cap. Gunk in the tank indicates gunk in the cooling system.
you are posibly having your period...
It means that your engine oil is mixing in with your radiator fluid. You probably have water in your oil too. I would take it in and have it fixed.
A ugly dark colored gunk around the cap on radiator and on the refill tank. Wipe it with a paper towel and you can tell it is oil. That can mean alot of different things - need to get it checked out.
Try to determine the substance: i.e. Transmission fluid (bad radiator) Engine oil (bad head gasket) Try flushing the cooling system and tracking other fluid levels
First you've GOT tpdetermine what the thick red gunk is and where it came from. Is it some kind of oil or what and how did it get in there? You'll have to make any needed repairs before you go any further. After that, flushing is easy. Buy some radiator flush at an auto parts store and follow the enclosed directions.
the colors of gunk you get are completely random so there is no special way to get a certain color of gunk.
yes it is you make blue gunk orange gunk and green gunk hope this works :)
Dont try to flush the radiator... when you drain it and try to flush it, what you will be doing is breaking up all the old gunk in the radiator, by breaking it up, you will have no clue if its completely clean or not, so if the gunk is still floating around, it could go threw the engine and clog up the engine, making it over heat and really mess things up... now if you want to just change the coolant, the drain plugs are on the botton corners of the radiator, theres 1 or 2 drain plugs... i forgot how many, but it would be alot safer to change coolant, then to try to flush the radiator.
you cant get rainbow gunk!
