Well it obviously means that you have crickets under your hood and you are hurting them. You probably should stop turning and just drive straight. But for real you should go get checked out or something cause that sounds like a personal problem.
sounds like a front wheel drive with bad cv joints, which are your drive shafts going to both front wheels.
It could be low fluid in the power steering pump.
could be where your power steering fluid is cold and thick
When you turn the steering wheel and hear a popping noise, it could be due to the power steering pump and a sticking valve so there is not enough hydraulic pressure. It could be caused by the steering linkage going out or low power steering fluid.
An expert would have to hear the noise. Some possibilities are dry top bearing of the shocks, horn ring loose in steering wheel, tire rubbing on frame - -
turn your steering wheel while at an idle. if you hear it stop its your power steering system, in my 98' ive traced it to my steering gear. if it doesnt stop it could be your lifters, check your oil level or if its old change it
I had this issue with a Honda accord, the sound may be your CV joints and not the wheel itself.
Believe it or not we cant hear that clicking noise on the roof, a description will help you get an answer...
You will hear a clicking or taping noise whenever the car is turning in the direction of the bad CV joint. So if your drivers side is bad then you will hear it when turning left. That death click that you hear is only caused by CV joints going bad... you might even be able to feel it through the steering wheel or floorboard. The clicking happens when additional weight transfers from one wheel to another (most often turns) but can happen during accelerating and stopping if quick enough. When a constant velocity (CV) joint is going bad, you can hear an audible "clicking" noise when you turn the steering wheel. When a drive shaft u-joint is going bad, you will usually feel/hear a "clunk" when accelerating and/or coming to a stop,
ticking sound from a wheel is usually a dry or worm wheel or axle bearing
Its Your CV Joint Or Your Wheel Bearing ........... if it is your cv joint you will hear the knocking or clicking sound especially whilst turning corners.xxxx
