∙ 13y agoIn ancient Rome the Colosseum was a place where the emperor held 'games' which consisted of usually Gladiator fights also they would hold other entertainment and sports. The Emperor would sometimes call the people of Rome to the Colosseum to share news and give announcements.
Nowhere days it is a Roman ruin, which was damaged by earthquakes over the years, and it is a big tourist spot, iconic for Italy.

∙ 13y agoThe Colosseum was/is the largest amphitheater of the ancient world. It was built as a monument to the Flavian dynasty and as a multi-faceted entertainment center. Gladiatorial combats were held there, plus, public executions, naval battles and wild animal hunts. It could hold about 70,000 people and due to its efficient "vomitoria" or exit system, could empty out in less than 15 minutes. It is said that the cheering of the crowds in the Colosseum could be heard in Ostia which was 15 miles away.
