Prime rib, which is typically eaten rare, should be cooked to an internal temperature of 125 degrees and should be allowed to rest from 15 to 20 minutes after cooking to allow the meat's juices to redistribute.

Just season it however you wantadd a shallow amount of water and/or wine to bottom. Put it in a covered roasting pan on a rack. Put it in a preheated 375 degree oven. Cook at temperature for 1 and 1/2 hours with door closed and do not open it, turn oven off. Leave roast in oven, still do not open it until it cools back down to room temperature. Remove and store in refigerator, then heat to serving temperature next day. Or just look up Paula Dean's recipe for the best prime rib you ever ate.

I assume you mean 12.5 ounces, not pounds. About 90 minutes at 325 Fahrenheit.
